A meeting space for the Latin American diaspora
On June 7, 2025, as part of the Semaines de l'Amérique Latine et des Caraïbes, we organized a virtual meeting bringing together associations and actors committed to Latin America in France: a space for dialogue, coordination, and solidarity among Latin American diaspora organizations.

Why this project
The Latin American diaspora in France comprises dozens of cultural, social, and human rights associations that often work in isolation from one another. We believe these organizations grow stronger when they meet, dialogue, and weave collaboration networks. This meeting was born from that conviction: creating a bridge between projects that share the same horizon but rarely have the opportunity to meet.
What we did
We organized an online meeting (via Zoom) bringing together associations and people committed to the culture and rights of Latin American peoples: Wiphala France, Peru Decolonial, Asepef, Encuentro Científico Internacional Francia-Perú, Andina Paris Nanterre, Coordinadora Memoria contra la Impunidad Francia, Voces Quechua de Paris, and the Círculo Intercontinental Peruano-Francés, among others. Independent artists and professionals also participated: musician and composer Ricardo Delgado, cultural association Estampas del Perú, Pachamama France, and designers and coaches Xiomara (CJuno), Carmen Belafonte, and Juan Franco, with support from Université Paris Cité.
What we sought
To generate a real space for dialogue and coordination among diaspora associations, beyond folkloric representation: recognizing the diversity of causes (historical memory, indigenous rights, art, science, community support) that coexist under the common label of "Latin American culture" in France, and planting seeds for future collaborations among organizations with similar goals.
